- Time Limit Minutes
-
There is no time limit on the Pennsylvania knowledge test. The test is 18 multiple-choice questions and you need 15 of them right to pass. Nothing is counting down while you work, so read each question twice before you answer. The questions are short but specific, and rushing is what turns a rule you actually know into a wrong answer.
- Test format
-
The Pennsylvania Knowledge Test is 18 multiple-choice questions taken at a PennDOT Driver License Center, and you need 15 correct to pass. PennDOT gives the test in written form or in audio form on request, in 30 languages, at every Driver License Center. You may sit the test only once in a day whatever the location, and a failed test can be retaken the next business day.
- Retake wait (days)
-
Next business day. PennDOT publishes no attempt cap for the knowledge test.

- Per-section minimums?
-
Pennsylvania does not break its knowledge test into scored sections. You face 18 multiple-choice questions covering signs, signals, pavement markings, driving laws, and safe practices, and you pass by answering 15 of them correctly. There is no separate minimum for any category; one overall score decides the result.
