Florida Default Speed Limits

Default speed limits where no sign is posted: residential, urban, rural, school zones, and interstate maximums.

Right on red allowed unless posted?

Right on red is allowed in Florida. Come to a complete stop at the stop line first, check that there is no NO TURN ON RED sign, and yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk and to oncoming traffic before you go. Florida also allows a left turn on red, but only from a one-way street onto another one-way street carrying traffic to the left, and only after the same complete stop and the same yielding. The permission is the easy half to remember; the complete stop and the yield are the half the test checks.

Matches s. 316.075(1)(c)1., Florida Statutes. Verified Aug 2026
